Pennsylvania Table Game Revenues Hit Record High

Table game revenues hit a record high at Pennsylvania casinos last month, according to figures released by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board this week.

Gross revenue from table games were actually up two percent over March 2016. In fact, the $79,543,775 in gross table game revenues generated by the state’s 12 casino properties marked the highest month ever recorded. The previous high was hit last March.

The PGCB says there were 1,231 table games in operation across the state last month and total tax revenue generated by table games in the state reached $12,837,539.

Gross slot machine revenues were actually down 0.6 percent in March. Total slot machine revenues hit $209,984,147 in March 2017 compared to $211,253,260 in March 2016.

The PGCB says Pennsylvania’s more than 26,000 slot machines generated $111,796,500 in tax revenue last month.

When combined, overall gaming revenue in March actually saw an increase of just over 0.1 percent and tax revenues reached more than $123 million dollars.

Despite a slight dip in total gaming revenues, Parx Casino continued to lead the Pennsylvania gaming industry with more than $49 million in total gaming revenue reported. Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem gaming revenues rose three percent to more than $48 million in March, putting the operation just behind Parx.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course saw the biggest rise in gaming revenues, jumping 5.79 percent to $23,288,463. Mohegan Sun Pocono saw the largest drop, dipping 7.09 percent to $21,862,366.

Statewide gross gaming revenues hit $289,527,922.

Pennsylvania’s casinos pay a 16 percent tax on table game revenues and 54 percent tax on slot machine revenues, making for one of the highest overall tax rates on casino operations in the country.
