One of Europe’s most respected and long-standing online gambling brands has crossed the ocean and landed in Pennsylvania. This marks the Kindred Group’s second foray into the U.S., launching first in the New Jersey online gambling market.
Unibet has partnered with tribal casino Mohegan Sun Pocono for online gaming, and this should prove to be a fruitful pairing, as Unibet Casino PA offers an intuitive user experience, exclusive game titles, and a dizzying array of ways to get money on and off the site. The game selection could be more extensive, and there isn’t much that truly dazzles about the site, but it’s early yet.
Read on to see how we view Unibet, and learn how you can pad your starting bankroll with hundreds in bonus cash.
Unibet ups the ante by offering both a no-deposit bonus and deposit match bonus to new players. The no-deposit bonus clocks in at $10 free with only a 1x wagering requirement on casino games, while the deposit match will see players pad their starting bankroll with as much as $500 in bonus cash, matched dollar-for-dollar.
To claim this offer, click on any of the links on this page, click “Register” on the top-right hand corner of the page, and then select the casino offer.

All players have to do to claim the $10 no-deposit bonus is to successfully register an account at Unibet Casino. This is a completely risk-free offer, and the funds can be withdrawn after players meet a qualifying 1x wagering requirement. Players have 30 days to satisfy the wagering requirements or the free funds will expire.
The deposit bonus is a 100% match up to $500, which is pretty good as far as monetary caps are concerned and the terms have improved. The bonus funds need to be turned over 20x, instead of their old 40x terms. This means that players are required to wager their bonus amount 20 times before unlocking the funds for cash out. And that’s just on non-table games. If you want to use your bonus to play blackjack, good luck, as you’ll need to satisfy a 200x wagering requirement to clear it. Table games count just 10% towards bonus clearance. Our advice: stick to the slots.
Registering on Unibet Casino should prove familiar to anyone that has signed up for a legal U.S. online gambling site. In order to register an account, players must be the legal Pennsylvania gambling age of 21, and not a key casino employee or other disqualified individual.
Players can access the registration platform either directly through the main Unibet Casino PA website, or via one of the links on this page. First, they’ll be asked which bonus offer they’d like to receive, the casino offer or the sportsbook offer. They’ll also be encouraged to enter any promotional code, along with their email address and a password.
From there, players will need to enter personal details such as:
Players will also be tasked with selecting security questions/answers, and will have the option to select strong authentication and set responsible gaming limits. Once an application is submitted, the system takes mere seconds to either verify the account or inform players if there is a problem. Pass the test, and you’ll be free to make deposits.
Unibet Casino uses SG Digital’s Open Platform System and Open Gaming System to provide players with a top-notch gaming experience. In Pennsylvania, the platform is available on both desktop and mobile as an integrated platform spanning both a sportsbook and online casino. However, there is currently only a dedicated app for Android apps, with iOS users currently having to use a workaround that enables them to use the product from their mobile browser.
Unibet Casino PA is available as a browser-based client on PC and Mac, with no downloads required. Just fire up your favorite modern browser, like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Safari for Mac, and get to playing.
As for the interface itself, it’s hardly a marvel of modern web architecture, but it delivers, featuring a well thought out tabular structure that grants players easy access to both the sportsbook and the online casino. Game types are divided neatly into categories, and players can quickly access its terrific help sections, promos, and a getting started guide all from the home page. The white on green aesthetic is a staple of Unibet, and was ported over to its Pennsylvania site.
Games tend to run very smoothly on desktop, with short loading times and few (if any) crashes. Demo modes are available, so players are free to try before they buy, even if they don’t have an account yet. A full-screen mode option is available from the game interface, which we thought was a nice touch.
The account management features can all be accessed through the hamburger menu located on the top-right corner of the screen. There, players will find the cashier, account summaries, account info, bonus info, and a slew of responsible gaming controls. It’s all laid out nicely, although we do wish we were able to set different limits for the casino and the sportsbook.
The mobile experience, while still capturing the spirit of the desktop application, fell a half-step short for us.
Games play extremely smoothly on mobile, and demo modes are available, both big plusses. However, we did experience the occasional problem when we initially loaded a game, sometimes forcing a do-over.
Another positive is that it appears all the games present on desktop were ported over to mobile. On most other PA online casinos, not all games made the cut.
One big disappointment is that we couldn’t switch over to the sportsbook without geolocating first, or at least we couldn’t until we logged out of our account. Out-of-state account holders should be able to at least view the lines without this extra step.
We were also a bit confounded by Unibet’s decision to lay out its mobile homepage in the manner that it did, with big blocky promotional icons clogging up the screen. In order to access casino games, players have to purposely look for them. It may have been a better decision for Unibet to let players dive right into its most popular games.
Otherwise, the app is solid, supporting roughly the same excellent layout as on desktop, and all the same account controls. For Android users, the experience is better, as they have access to a dedicated app. However, iOS users will have to first download a Geoguard Location Validator on their device, and have it running while logged on via their mobile web browser to play. This workaround works nicely, but some may be put off by the extra step.
As of mid-2019, Apple requires that iOS gambling apps be built natively, which is the reasoning behind why Unibet chose to make its mobile software available through a browser. It’s at least plausible that a native iOS app will launch in the future.
Cashiering on Unibet is a treat, with a ton of depositing options available, as well as low minimum and high maximum deposit amounts for most methods. The cashier even lets you know prior to making a deposit if you have a bonus opportunity available.
Depositing methods include:
Withdrawal methods include VIP Preferred, PayPal, Check by Mail (5-7 days), Unibet Play+, and cash at the Mohegan Sun casino cage. More often than not, you’ll need to use a method for deposits before it can be used for withdrawals.
Unibet allows players to save their transactions methods, so no need to type in that 16-digit card number or checking account routing/acct. number multiple times. It’s a nice touch that eliminates some of the frustration from cashiering.
By Pennsylvania online casino standards, Unibet does a pretty good job with its game selection, offering over 90 games, across slots, table games, and video poker. But it still has a long way to go before the game lobby satiates the appetite of all gamblers.
Players on Unibet Casino will find solid value, with most slots paying out over 95%, and some as high as 98%. NetEnt machines such as Dead or Alive, Starbust, Guns N’ Roses, and the screamingly popular jackpot slot Divine Fortune dominate the show, but there are also a fair number of titles from IGT, as well as, multiple exclusives.
One of these exclusives is the jackpot slot Jackpot Shores, which seeds at $50,000.
At 75 slots, Unibet offers more virtual reels than most PA online casinos, but the selection is still very small compared to what we’ve found in other legal U.S. online casino markets, such as New Jersey. We do expect as more vendors enter the fray, that Unibet’s slot selection will grow by leaps and bounds.
Sadly, players looking to mix it up in a live casino setting, with real dealers, real cards, and table mates are going to have to wait a bit, as Unibet PA currently does not offer Live Dealer games. However, it has been announced that Unibet is partnered up with Evolution Gaming for its Live Casino product, meaning that a debut is inevitable.
Unibet works hand-in-hand with Evolution in Europe offering 20 different games ranging from Lightning Roulette, to Deal or No Deal, several varieties of blackjack, and money wheels. Evolution is also a force in the New Jersey market where it powers multiple Live Dealer sites.
Unibet has a couple of different blackjack options. First up, is the exclusive Diamond Series Blackjack, which is spread across three stakes (Micro, Small, and regular). Minimum wagers start as low as $0.50, which is far lower than players will find at PA land-based casinos.
Considering the stakes, the rules are quite good, with blackjack paying 3:2, the dealer standing on soft 17, double on any two, double after split, and late surrender allowed. The big drawback is that players can only split once to make two hands, whereas in most PA casinos, up to four hands are allowed. Players can try their luck at three hands at once.
There is also the popular Blackjack by IGT game, which is a single hand game that has most of the same rules as the Diamond Series, except that there is no surrender, and one resplit is allowed (total of three hands). The game uses only six decks, as opposed to eight for the Diamond Series. Play this game with perfect basic strategy and the house will have less than a 0.5% edge.
Unibet comes out of the gate strong with seven different roulette games, including two Diamond Series exclusives.
While the difference between most of these games is superficial (different graphics, layouts, and settings), it’s important to note that several games are of the American variety, and others are European or French. The rule here is to always avoid the American Roulette games, patriotic as you might be, in favor of European/French games, as they feature only a single zero on the wheel, and offer significantly better odds than American (double zero) games.
As is the case with blackjack, roulette offers some low minimum wagers; as low as $0.10 on select products.
Otherwise, the only other table game Unibet presently offers is Baccarat by IGT, another game with a solid return (as long as you’re not betting on the Tie).
We were pleasantly surprised with Unibet’s video poker selection. While there are only single-line games at this time, the Game King Video Poker suite offers nine unique products, including Jacks or Better, Bonus Poker, Double Double Bonus Poker, Deuces Wild, and Joker Poker. In every instance, the pay tables were fantastic, topping out at 99.73%.
Unibet also offers two exclusives: Jacks or Better (with a full-pay 9/6 table) and Deuces Wild, which has a rather horrid paytable and is best avoided.
Not at present, and there’s no firm indication that it ever will. It just doesn’t seem to be the Unibet way, at least not for casino. However, Unibet is aggressive with its promotions, offering leaderboard and tournament-style promotions on its European site.
It’s yet to be seen whether we’ll see the same kind of promos in the more inhospitable Pennsylvania market, but here’s hoping.
Unibet offers a Help and Info section and it’s fantastic, with answers to dozen of common inquiries, drilled down into category tiers like My Account, Deposits & Withdrawals, Casino, and Tech Support. We found all the information on the site current and accurate, which is more than we can say for other PA online casino help centers.
For tough questions, Unibet offers Live Chat and Phone support, which both run from 8 a.m. – 11 p.m. daily. While we do wish we could chat with a live person 24/7, Unibet does cover the most critical hours of the day.
Players can also opt for email support, but this is best reserved for inquiries that aren’t that super time-sensitive, as response times vary.
The old Pocono Downs quickly jumped when legislation was passed in 2004 that legalized casino gambling at existing racetrack facilities. In January 2005, the facility was purchased by the Mohegan Tribe of Indians of Connecticut for $280 million from owner Penn National Gaming.
Over the course of the next couple years, Mohegan Sun greatly expanded the facility, converting it into a racino. Its efforts resulted in Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs becoming the first slots parlor in Pennsylvania to open its doors in November 2006.
Fast-forward a few years later to 2010, and Mohegan Sun would find itself adding table games to the mix, thanks to a gambling expansion package legalizing felt games. A hotel would follow in 2013, as well as a convention center, transforming Mohegan Sun into a full-fledged casino resort property, one of only two in the touristy Poconos area.
Since Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs has rebranded itself as Mohegan Sun Pocono, and is home to over 80k sq. ft in gaming space, 2,300 slots, 90 tables games, restaurants, lodging, and entertainment facilities.
In 2017, Pennsylvania legislators legalized online gambling and sports betting (pending a reversal of the nationwide ban on sports betting, PASPA). Mohegan Sun again smelled opportunity and jumped, forging a partnership with Unibet for both online casino and sports, while choosing to opt-out of online poker. The latest addition to the land-based facility has been a Unibet branded sportsbook, featuring 1,130 sq. ft of space, a 28-foot wide, high definition customizable video wall, two live teller booths, and six self-serve kiosks.
