Unibet Sportsbook PA Promo Code & Review 2020

Unibet broke into the U.S. sports betting market during the Fall of 2019 in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Pennsylvania legalized sports gambling in a 2017 bill. While its entry in the U.S. is fairly recent, worldwide it’s one of the first regulated online sportsbooks, initially opening its doors in Europe in 1997.

The Unibet sportsbook app and the web-based platform offers solid promotions, pricing that’s become increasingly competitive, as well as a huge range of sports and different markets as well. It’s a platform that is made by players for the players, and you won’t get the litter of unnecessary clutter that you see from some other brands. In other words it’s not flashy, so a sports betting purists will want to get to know. There are absolutely drawbacks and flaws to discuss in this review as well.

Unibet Sportsbook PA welcome bonus – October 2020

One of Unibet’s biggest attractions is its welcome package, which you can take advantage of by clicking our links. It comes in two parts, the first being a $30 no deposit bonus — that’s $30 to wager just for creating an account — and the second is the $600 risk-free bet.

How the Unibet bonuses work

The $30 no deposit bonus that gets applied to your account is one of the best promotions that we’ve seen. It’s money for nothing, and who doesn’t love that?

Your $30 will be applied as three separate $10 free bet vouchers. All you need to do is sign up, and your three $10 bets will be waiting for you. It’s a pretty simple way to start a bankroll. There’s no restrictions on using them — you can use it for a 100-1 longshot or on a favorite, but note that any winnings you get from your free bet will not include your stake. For example, if you bet $10 at even money and win, you’ll get $10 in your cash account, not $20.

The second welcome component, the risk-free bet, gets triggered once you make your first cash bet after you have made a deposit. Note that in order to qualify, you need to make sure that your first bet is priced at -115 or higher (-110, -105, +110 and so forth being higher).

This promo starts for bets as low as $10 and up to $600. So-called “risk-free bets” work in this way: On this first bet if you, great you’ve won. If you lose, you’ll get a free bet credit in your account in the amount corresponding to how much you staked on the first bet. If that was $200, and you missed on the bet, you’ll get a $200 free bet credited to your account within 72 hours.

Later, when you put another bet in your slip, you’ll have the option to check a box using the free bet, which may get divided into smaller increments, such as four $50 bets if your stake was $200.

Also, to use this offer, you need to have your account verified. You can do this via the account section once you are logged in, and it won’t take long to complete.

Advantages of using Unibet

When we review any sportsbook, we like to look at the ways a brand stands out from the crowd. Here is a list of advantages Unibet offers that should make you want to sign up

  • Trusted brand – Legal sports betting states in the U.S. will see the entry of a wide range of sportsbooks and new brands over the next few years. If the European market is anything to go by, this is not always a positive thing. Using sportsbooks that are tried and tested, with a long history, is a preferred (but not required) ingredient to player safety and security.
  • Huge range of betting options – The depth that it can offer their players is almost unrivaled. For NFL games there’s often over 250 wagers available — from game props, player props, alternative spreads and totals, player fantasy points, use your imagination. The range is deep for the NBA and NHL games as well.
  • Live betting – Unibet has one of the most active live betting sections that we have tested. The majority of games from the majority of sports now turn live, and it’s one of the smoothest live betting experiences with reasonably priced play-by-play (or point-by-point) markets as well.

Special promos and offers

The range of promotions at Unibet is quite good and recurring day-to-day.

Betting boosts are the backbone of its promo section outside of the welcome offer. It runs three regularly:

  • Profit boost
  • Daily odds boost
  • Weekly parlay boost

The profit boost is something a little different and not offered by many sportsbooks. Unibet picks a game every night and you can boost the odds any any wager by 50% (maybe a bit less at times). For example, pick a side that’s +200, at a 50% boost, you’d be getting the price for +300. At a $20 stake, that’s a potential $60 win instead of $40. The max boost on these is $25. Select games are eligible. Often standalone NFL games.

The parlay boost is linked to all combination bets (parlays and teasers), and each selection within this needs to be priced at -500 or higher (-450, -350, +100, etc). The more selections you include, the higher the bonus, starting at 10% for 3, 20% for 4, and then maxing out at 30% for 5.

The daily odds boost, and the profit boost can be seen in the main sports betting menu — on the left side on the website. These change all the time, so keep checking back to see what’s on offer. An example: Saquan Barkley to score a TD and Giants win, going from +150 to +200.

Unibet loyalty program

At the minute there is no loyalty program available at Unibet. Would be nice, but for now there’s a strong range of existing player promos that are currently live.

How to register an account at Unibet

Registration with Unibet is a process that takes just a few minutes. For starters, you need to be over the age of 21. Unibet is live in Pennsylvania right now (and New Jersey and soon in Indiana and other states), but you can, in fact, sign up from within any U.S. state.

The process starts by clicking the “Join now” button at the top of the page. You can do this on mobile or desktop, with both being the same.

You will need to work through the three sections as outlined on the screen.

The first is your login details, such as email address and password. Make sure you use an active email address here and one you can easily get access to, as you will need to verify your account.

The second part will include your name, gender, and date of birth. The third and final part includes your address, mobile phone number, and a range of security questions that you need to attach to your account.

Once this has all been processed, you will be asked to verify the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number. Don’t be too alarmed here as this a security measure and now now standard practice within the gambling industry, as well as many other industries.

Unibet software snapshot

Unibet is available as a web-based platform and on Android and iOS systems for mobile phones. Like most gambling-related apps, legal ones included, the app is not available in the Google Play store. You must navigate to the Unibet website and download it (change your phone’s source permissions if necessary). The app is also available for iOS systems, however that version is sorely lacking and often breaks down.

Unibet is unique in that the Kambi oddsmaking and risk-management software it employs is actually a part of the Kindred Group, which also owns Unibet. While the Kambi software and tech is used at many other sites in the U.S., Unibet is still able to create a relatively unique betting experience.

Desktop platform

pa unibet sportsbook web

Access to the desktop site is as simple as landing on the Unibet page and navigating to Sports. Once you are here, then you get a pretty basic but totally functional layout.

The homepage includes the top games of the day (or week) and then a list of any live games that are taking place. The left bar will give you the full menu.

There’s a search feature at the top of the page, which is imperative given the breadth of betting options and menus. It saves a lot of the toggling around, which you may have to do at other sportsbooks. The bet slip is hidden at the bottom of the screen until you need it, and moving between sports and betting options is very easy. You can easily pull the bet slip up and send it back down with a click.

If you have a “live” bet in the slip, that’s indicated and easily visible. The odds will shift in there in real time — and you can approve the changes or not. The color contrast is nice — no black background with white print — so it’s easily visible and discernible. If you have a tendency to “fat finger” buttons, you’re on your own!

Mobile apps Android and iOS

pa unibet sportsbook mobile app

The mobile app is basically a mini-desktop site. When you get onto the app, you begin to see that the sportsbook was designed with mobile in mind and then works backward to make it fit around the desktop site.

Bettors can download the app via the App Store for iOS devices, and for Android, simply visit the site in your mobile browser, and then you will be prompted to download from there, then open it up. Change permissions as needed.

The Android app is pretty smooth, stable, responsive to touch and loads quickly with minimal lag time (if any). Nice when you’re looking to make an in-game wager. Minimal frills or distracting popups. Just bet it, baby.

The iOS app is a different story. Last we tested it was frequently breaking down and feels like just a Safari site running through an app. We’ll see if that changes.

On Android at least — add a wager to your bet slip and punch in the bet amount, and the potential payout will calculate, and adjust if you add in more items to the wager. You can bounce between singles wagers and parlays (or round robins) as needed.

Depositing and withdrawing at Unibet

When you use one of the more established brands, like Unibet, you often get access to a stronger range of banking options. The Unibet sportsbook is no exception to this rule and here are what you can access:

  • PayPal – Without a doubt, the most versatile method within the banking options. The only thing to note is that you need to deposit via your “PayPal Balance,” which means it can’t come directly from a bank or card that is linked to said account.
  • ACH – Use your checking account and process is offered by VIP Preferred (allows higher limits)
  • Online Banking Transfer — Through the Unibet portal, log in to your online banking system using your credentials for the bank, and process the transaction through that account
  • Unibet Play+ Card – Unibet’s version of a prepaid card that can be loaded via bank or credit card.
  • PayNearMe – Access over 27,000 shops to deposit cash directly into your Unibet account. You will need ID at the transaction point.
  • Mastercard/Visa – This is one of the easier banking methods, but given that a lot of major banks in the U.S. don’t process for gambling platforms, it may be unavailable.
  • Cash – Mohegan Sun Pocono Racetrack in Pennsylvania will allow you to deposit and withdraw cash to and from your instantly.

Betting lines at Unibet

Pricing at Unibet is pretty consistent throughout. At the time of this writing, it appears that Unibet pricing has actually become more competitive, whereas previously we’d often notice a slightly higher vig on straight bets and in-game wagers compared with some competitors.

We can’t speculate why this might be, but it’s certainly welcomed. For example on a Boston College vs. Virginia NCAA basketball game, the vig on FanDuel Sportsbook was a total 30 cents versus 25 at Unibet. These margins add up. FanDuel beats Unibet it some spots, but it was about even on live betting and Unibet was an equal on pre-game spread bets and props.

Note that one of the most well-recognized brands using Kambi, DraftKings Sportsbook, is engaged in a pending merger and IPO in which SB Tech will take over as its software supplier and risk-management arm.

As a result, Unibet and other remaining Kambi-powered systems will have more room to stand out and grow with Kambi, which has critics for harsh treatment of “sharp” bettors, but is widely regarded for providing superior technology tailor made for the sportsbook or off the shelf.

Betting markets, options

Most of what you’d want, but a little narrower here in Pennsylvania, due to state regulations. You can bet on:

  • NFL
  • NCAA College Football
  • Baseball
  • NBA Basketball
  • NCAA College Basketball
  • Hockey (NHL)
  • Soccer
  • UFC/MMA
  • Boxing
  • Auto racing
  • Golf
  • Motorsports
  • Rugby
  • Tennis

Among other things, you cannot bet on high school or amateur sports or the Academy Awards.

Bet types

Pretty much most of what you’d want and will see elsewhere:

  • Spread bets
  • Moneylines
  • Parlays and teasers
  • In-game or “live” wagers
  • Totals (over/under)
  • Game props
  • Player props
  • Futures bets
  • Round robins

Summary

Overall a good, clean sportsbook that dispenses with frills and pop-ups in favor of a smooth betting experience. Pricing is competitive and range of markets solid. Promos including sign-up bonus are solid, too. The iOS version of the app definitely needs some work.
